PhoneMann is back — and this time it’s pay as you go. If your UK mobile network charges you a fortune to call the Isle of Man, you’re in the right place: a local number that forwards home for 3p/min to Manx landlines and 6p/min to Manx mobiles, with no contract and no minimum spend.
Why PhoneMann exists
If you’ve got friends or family on the Island, you’ve probably noticed your phone bill creeping up. As far as the UK networks are concerned, the Isle of Man isn’t part of the UK — so calls to 01624 and 07624 numbers fall out of bundle, and depending on your provider you can pay up to 65p a minute to ring home.
I was spending £100+ a month on top of my plan, and none of the networks warned anyone before they made the change. Having grown up on the Island and run a UK mobile network for a living, I knew there had to be a better way.

What’s new: pay as you go
The first version of PhoneMann was a flat £6/month for unlimited landline calls. It worked, but it wasn’t fair on everyone — light callers paid for minutes they never used, and it didn’t cover mobiles.
So we rebuilt it. PhoneMann is now pay as you go:
- We give you a UK number that’s covered by the inclusive minutes on your existing mobile plan.
- When you ring it, we forward the call to any Isle of Man number you choose — a landline or a mobile, your own or a friend’s or family member’s.
- You’re charged 3p/min to Manx landlines and 6p/min to Manx mobiles — drawn from prepaid credit you top up whenever you like.
- There’s a £1/month charge that keeps your number and account active. No contract, cancel any time.
That same 240-minutes-a-month caller? On PhoneMann landline rates that’s about £7.20 plus the £1/month — call it £8 against £156. And if your network ever bundles Isle of Man calls back in, you’ve lost nothing.
